A one-day introduction to the principles of Fascial Manipulation® — covering the core anatomical and biomechanical concepts alongside hands-on practical training in palpation, assessment and treatment of the fascial system. Now expanding to cities across Australia.
What the Workshop Covers
This workshop introduces the basic principles of Fascial Manipulation. You’ll learn a systematic framework to palpate and navigate segments of the fascial planes, and meet the FM assessment framework that methodically helps clinicians understand how prior injuries, surgeries and musculoskeletal trauma contribute to pain and dysfunction.
What’s included
The lectures explain
- The anatomical connections of the muscular fascia that form the myofascial planes and chains
- The physiological and biomechanical behaviour of fascia in the musculoskeletal system
- The cause of fascial pain and dysfunction, and how to differentiate densifications from fibrosis
The practical develops
- Palpation principles of the fascial system
- Identifying the Centres of Coordination (fascial points) in segments of the trunk
- Identifying the densifications that cause pain and dysfunction
- Treatment techniques to restore normal fascial function
- An overview of the FM assessment to formulate treatment hypotheses
For Melbourne workshops, the lectures are completed online beforehand. At the Adelaide workshop hosted by Massage & Myotherapy Australia, the lecture material is delivered face-to-face on the day.
For Qualified Hands-On Practitioners
Fascial Manipulation is a hands-on assessment and treatment method, so this workshop is open to practitioners who hold a qualification in manual therapy — including physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, myotherapists and remedial massage therapists*. Practitioners from other professions with a qualification in hands-on assessment and treatment may also be eligible, and final-year students in physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic are welcome too.
Qualifications in areas such as exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, personal training, yoga or Pilates don’t include training in hands-on manual therapy, so on their own they don’t meet this requirement. *Eligibility for remedial massage therapists depends on clinical experience and training background. Small Groups, Real Feedback
Workshops run by Fascial Manipulation Australia are capped at 12 participants. Fascial Manipulation is a palpation-based skill, and it’s learnt best with someone checking your hands. In a small group, Jack works with each participant directly throughout the practical — something past participants consistently point to as a highlight.
